The Winding Brook Park Association Board has been discussing the recent events associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

First, our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who is suffering during these unprecedented times; for the elderly and immune-compromised who are unable to leave their homes, see their loved ones, and get essential services; for the local business owners whose businesses are closing or cutting back hours and staff; and for parents, students, and teachers, who are left with few options to keep our families safe other than to keep our children at home.

It is times like these that we are thankful to live in a community like ours. There have been many residents who have reached out to Board Members asking how they can best help their neighbors. We would like to ask that everyone reach out to your immediate neighbors to make sure their needs are being met. If you or someone you know needs assistance, do not hesitate to ask for help. A local resident is creating a local support network, please email us (This email address is being protected from spambots. Also look at the Help Map on NextDoor for more opportunities.

Second, one of Winding Brook’s signature annual events is the Easter Egg Hunt. This event was scheduled for the Saturday before Easter Sunday at Henry Frank Park. Due to the recommendations from the CDC and Governor Holcomb, we have decided to cancel this year’s program. I’m sure others, like us, will miss coming together as neighbors at this festive event.

Lastly, we know that everyone is feeling the strain of the “social distancing” in place. Families have only begun the weeks ahead without school activities to keep everyone busy. This is why the Board came together to initiate a new activity: a Winding Brook Neighborhood Photo Scavenger Hunt! As a family, take a walk or bike ride through the neighborhood looking for the items on the list. When you see one, take a photo with it and at least one team member. We want to see you enjoying the spring weather, exploring the neighborhood and looking for things you may have missed before. Once you find everything on the list, email the photos to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the family names of whom participated. We would like to include some photos and a list of families in a future Crier, so be creative! Please share them on Facebook and NextDoor with the hashtag #InThisTogetherWBP.

We hope that with the support of family, friends, and neighbors, we will come through this with a greater appreciation for what is most important.

Please take care and be safe.
